Bull Gulch Fire now at 80% Containment, Pre-evacuation notices lifted as Mop-up Operations Continue

CAÑON CITY, Colo. –Fire crews continue making good progress on the Bull Gulch Fire. Fire crews began mop-up operations Friday, bringing the fire containment to 80 percent. The fire is located nine miles northeast of Cotopaxi in Fremont County. The acreage of the fire changed from 150 acres to 76 acres due to better mapping.
A pre-evacuation notice that was put in place on Wednesday for approximately 30 residences within a three-mile radius of Snow Drift Lane has been lifted. No other pre-evacuations or evacuations at this time. Please contact the Fremont County Sheriff’s office for any additional evacuation information.
The Texas Creek Trail system is now open, closure signs will be removed soon. No structures were lost as a result of this fire.
Another small fire started Friday, June 21 around 7 p.m. The Bare Fire is one acre in size and is located off of High Park Road in Fremont County. Eight engine crews comprised of federal and local fire resources were able to quickly contain the fire. As of Saturday morning the Bare Fire is 100 percent contained. The cause of the Bull Gulch and Bare Fire is unknown.
