BLM Winnemucca District announces closure of Black Rock Visitor Center on November 9, 2017

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – The Black Rock Visitor’s Contact Center, located at 200 Transfer Rd. in Gerlach, NV, will close for the season on November 9, 2017. 

This year the station saw a record 1363 visitors between mid-May and November with a record 184 visitors on Labor Day.  "We look forward to seeing the public out there next year.  Depending on the winter and spring weather, the Station will probably re-open in mid-May 2018”, said Mark Hall, Black Rock Field Manager.  


The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
