BLM Selects New Lakeview District Manager

Today Ed Shepard, the Oregon/Washington Bureau of Land Management (BLM) State Director, announced the selection of Ms. E. Lynn Burkett as the incoming Lakeview District Manager in Lakeview, Oregon. Ms. Burkett is currently the Field Station Manager for the Lower Potomac Field Office, in BLM's Eastern States Office. She has worked in several management assignments in the Washington Office and in Idaho and Arizona. Burkett will be returning to the BLM Oregon/Washington, where she was the Roseburg District Public Affairs Officer for five years. "E. Lynn understands the value and importance of collaborative problem solving and the power of partnerships. She enjoys the outdoors and is looking forward to working with the employees, stakeholders, and communities in the Lakeview District," said Ed Shepard, Oregon/Washington BLM State Director. She will report to Lakeview in June, replacing Carol Benkosky, who is the new Prineville District Manager. As Lakeview District Manager, E. Lynn will serve as the line manager and advise the State Director on policies and programs pertinent to the Lakeview District's management of natural resources. Public lands in the Lakeview District vary from the mixed conifer forests on the east slope of the Cascade Mountains to the beautiful high desert country of Oregon's Outback. The District has two Field Offices, the Klamath Falls Field Office and the Lakeview Field Office, including approximately 3.5 million acres of public land in Lake, Klamath, and part of Harney counties in south-central and southeastern Oregon. E. Lynn earned a Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. She has demonstrated leadership and flexibility in a variety of roles including Branch Chief of Renewable Resources and Planning, in Arizona, Deputy Division Chief, Environmental Quality and Protection, and as a staff member of the President's Council on Environmental Quality in Washington, D.C. She is excited about working on key Lakeview District programs, including energy, travel management, and riparian health.
