The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) West Desert District is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment (EA) analyzing the BLM's proposal to offer nine parcels covering 12,944 acres in the Fillmore Field Office at the November 2015 oil and gas lease sale. The scheduled BLM-Utah August 2015 oil and gas lease sale for the West Desert District is being combined with the Nov. 17, 2015, oil and gas lease sale for the Green River District. Given the small scale of the West Desert District sale scheduled for August, combining it with the November Green River District sale will improve efficiency by creating one workload for the leasing team and field personnel. Posting of the November 2015 Notice of Competitive Lease Sale including parcels from both the West Desert and Green River Districts will take place on Aug. 14, 2015; posting of the EA for the Green River parcels is scheduled for June 12, 2015.Additional information about the proposed Fillmore Field Office parcels is included in the EA, which is now available for public review and comment. An electronic copy of the EA can be found online at: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/prog/energy/oil_and_gas/oil_and_gas_lease.htmlHard copies of the West Desert District EA can be obtained in person at the BLM-Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101, or the Fillmore Field Office, 95 East 500 North, Fillmore, UT 84631.The public review and comment period closes at 4:30 p.m. on April 27, 2015. Please note that the most useful comments are those that identify issues relevant to the proposed action or contain new technical or scientific information. Comments that contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.
