LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Las Vegas Field Office is seeking public comment on a proposal for a Change of Use in Clark County, NV.

Under the authority of the Recreation and Public Purposes (R&PP) Act, on August 16, 2007, the City of Las Vegas received lease N-63293-01 for a Las Vegas metropolitan police substation and fire station. The City of Las Vegas has requested a change of use from the police substation and fire station to a public park and fire station. According to the City of Las Vegas, since the lease issuance, a new location was secured for the police substation, but the area is lacking in recreational facilities since it is surrounded by two, large Master Planned communities that have yet to be fully developed. The fire station is still needed in order to fill response time gaps for the existing and proposed developments.

The Notice of Realty Action for the change of use was published in the November 23, 2015 Federal Register (80 FR 72986.)  Interested parties may submit comments regarding the change of use, whether the proposal is consistent with local planning and zoning, whether the land is physically suitable for the proposal or if it is consistent with State and Federal programs. Public comments will be accepted for 45 days until Thursday, January 7, 2016.

Written comments may be mailed to the BLM Las Vegas Field Office, Assistant Field Manager, Division of Lands, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130, faxed to 775-515-5010, Attn: Roger Ketterling, or by email rketterling@blm.gov.  Before including your address, phone number, email, address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, you should be aware that your entire comment – including your personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information from public review, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
