CANON CITY, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management Royal Gorge Field Office invites you to share in the conversation about recreation management and the places in the field office from Leadville to Westcliffe, Salida to Canon City that matter most to you so that BLM can better respond to the public’s desires and expectations for how these areas are managed.

  • Do you engage in recreational activities on BLM lands in Lake, Chaffee, Freemont, Teller, Custer or Park counties? Along the Arkansas River?
  • Are any of your favorite places in those areas? Places that are special to you?
  • Are there places you recommend to family and friends as must-sees when they visit?
  • Are you interested in how BLM manages recreation in those areas?

Please plan to participate in upcoming focus groups where these questions and several more will be explored. Focus group sessions targeting both local area residents and businesses as well as visitors will be conducted in the area in the coming weeks. They will be facilitated by Dr. Tim Casey, Professor of Political Science at the Natural Resource Center at Colorado Mesa University and will last approximately one and a half hours.
