Coeur d’Alene, ID – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Coeur d’Alene Field Office invites the public to provide feedback on proposed recreation improvements at the Ross Point recreation site. Ross Point is a 2.5 acre parcel located on the Spokane River in Post Falls, Idaho along Maplewood Avenue. The site was formerly an irrigation pumping station managed by the Bureau of Reclamation.

The field office proposes improvements for the day-use site including amenities such as paved parking to include ADA/ABA accessibility, restroom facilities, family picnic areas, a group picnic pavilion and a small craft/fishing dock. The BLM is working with the City of Post Falls regarding future maintenance of the site. Several conceptual drawings are available for review and comment at:http://bit.ly/rosspointrecsite.

“Ross Point is one of the few remaining public access points on the Spokane River for recreational activities,” said Mitch Owens, BLM outdoor recreation planner. “Our goal is to work with our partners and neighbors to create a well-maintained, fee-free family day-use site.”

Interested members of the public are also invited to an on-site information meeting on Wednesday, July 6 from 5-6:30 p.m. Conceptual plans and tours of the parcel will be available.

Comments on the project can be submitted sent electronically to blm_id_ross_point_recsite@blm.gov or by hard copy mail to: BLM Coeur d’Alene Field Office, attn: Mitch Owens, 3815 Schreiber Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83835. Feedback on the proposed improvements is most useful if received by July 31, 2016.
