PHOENIX — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Lower Sonoran Field Office is seeking public comment on the direct sale of a 16.87-acre public land parcel located southeast of Phoenix in Gila County, Arizona. The sale would transfer the parcel to private ownership.

“Comments from the public help us identify important factors to take into account when considering a potential change to the landscape or the BLM footprint,” said BLM Phoenix District Manager Leon Thomas.

The parcel is suitable for disposal by sale or exchange as identified in the BLM’s Lower Sonoran Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plan. The BLM has determined that the parcel is not needed for any other federal purpose and is uneconomical for the BLM to manage. For this reason, the parcel will be offered non-competitively to the applicant, at not less than the appraised fair market value.

A Notice of Realty Action for the sale published in the Federal Register on August 14.  Interested parties may submit comments throughout a 45-day comment period which ends on September 29, 2018.

The BLM has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) that analyzes the impact from the proposed direct land sale. The EA is available on BLM’s ePlanning website at https://go.usa.gov/xQrVb.

Written comments may be mailed to Realty Specialist JoAnn Goodlow at the Lower Sonoran Field Office, 21605 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85027; faxed to (623) 580-5580; or emailed to jgoodlow@blm.gov. Please reference “Proposed (Non-Competitive) Direct Sale of Public Land” in all correspondence.  For further information, please contact Jo Ann Goodlow at (622) 580-5548.
