Photo by Chris Lloyd, BLM.UKIAH, Calif. – Public lands in the Indian Valley and Walker Ridge areas along the Lake-Colusa county line are now open to public access.  Walker Ridge Road is again open at the intersection with State Route 20.  The Bureau of Land Management had temporarily closed the area because of danger posed by the Pawnee Fire.

“Fire crews and equipment are still working in the area, so people should be careful when visiting,” said Fred Wong, assistant field manager for the BLM Ukiah Field Office.

The 15,000-acre Pawnee Fire is now 92 percent contained by fire lines.  Officials from CAL FIRE estimate that the fire will be fully contained by July 10.

BLM officials noted that other areas remain closed because of dangers posed by the County Fire burning east of Lake Berryessa.  Public lands in the Cache Creek Area south of State Route 20 and west of State Route 16, including the Cowboy Camp, High Bridge, Judge Davis and Redbud recreation sites, are included in the temporary closure.  The Knoxville Recreation Area and Hunting Creek Campground are also temporarily closed.

Current information is available on the CAL FIRE incident information web page at http://www.fire.ca.gov/current_incidents.
