HYATTVILLE, Wyo. – As part of its commitment to supporting sustainable, working public lands for the American people, the Bureau of Land Management requests public input on the analysis of the Alkali Creek Reservoir Project near Hyattville. In addition, the BLM will host a public meeting to discuss the project from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on September 20 at the Hyattville Community Center.

The Wyoming Water Development Office proposes to construct a 294-acre reservoir on Alkali Creek and ancillary facilities across public and private land near Hyattville. The reservoir is intended to provide late-season irrigation water for portions of the Nowood River Watershed. The reservoir is also intended to provide recreation opportunities through a minimum pool, improve fisheries, enhance wildlife and riparian habitat, provide flood attenuation, improve downstream water quality, and provide both direct and indirect economic benefits to the local community and state.

The draft environmental impact statement (EIS), which identifies a range of alternatives for how the project may move forward, is now available for review and comment through Oct. 15, 2018, at https://go.usa.gov/xUsam. Comments may also be submitted at the public meeting, emailed to blm_wy_alkalicreekreservoireis@blm.gov or mailed to Alkali Creek Reservoir Project Manager, BLM Worland Field Office, 101 South 23rd Street, Worland, WY 82401.
