BLM Proposes to Sell 81.25 Acres in Clark County

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Vegas Field Office, is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 17 parcels, totaling 81.25 acres of public land in Clark County, Nevada.  The competitive sale would be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA) and associated Las Vegas Resource Management Plan and Record of Decision dated October 5, 1998.  A Notice of Realty Action published in the today’s Federal Register opens a 45-day comment period which will close July 10.       

The sale parcels are located throughout the Las Vegas Valley.  All 17 parcels are within Clark County jurisdiction.  Sixteen of the parcels are located in southwest Las Vegas, south of Beltway 215 and west of Interstate 15.  The last parcel is located near the intersection of Ann Road and Grand Canyon Drive.

The sale parcels are identified for disposal and have been analyzed through the Las Vegas Disposal Boundary Environmental Impact Statement of December 23, 2004.  All resource issues have been identified and cleared.  A Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy number DOI-BLM-NV-S010-2016-0125-DNA for this sale, which tiers to the 2004 EIS, is available for public review and comment. 

Sealed bids must include a deposit of at least 20 percent of the bid amount and a bid guarantee deposit of $10,000 in the form of a cashier’s check, draft check, certified check, or U.S. postal money order made payable, in U.S. dollars, to Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management

The parcels would be offered at not less than the fair market value as determined by an appraisal.  The sale by sealed bid and oral public auction will be held on August 3, 2017, at City of Henderson Council Chambers, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada 89009 at 10 a.m., Pacific Time.  The fair market value for the parcels will be announced in local and online media at least 30 days prior to the sale. 

In accordance with the SNPLMA, the funds generated by this proposed sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land, and landscape restoration projects.  Additionally, five percent of the revenue goes to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
