BLM offers $1,000 reward for information related to nail boards on Prince Creek mountain bike trails

SILT, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for placing boards covered with nails on mountain biking trails in the Prince Creek area near Carbondale around June 17.
The BLM continues to investigate the incidents but have not identified suspects to date.
A total of three narrow boards with numerous sharp nails sticking out were discovered by mountain bikers on June 17. Two boards were left on popular mountain biking trails with the clear intent of damaging bikes or harming mountain bikers. A third board was found off-trail.
“We simply do not tolerate this behavior and will seek convictions against the responsible parties,” said BLM Colorado River Valley Field Manager Steve Bennett. “We are hoping someone has some information that will lead us to those responsible.”
