BLM to Offer 89 Parcels in the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District First Quarter 2018 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale

In its ongoing effort to provide opportunities for responsible energy development, support the creation of jobs, and facilitate positive economic impacts to local communities, the Bureau of Land Management today released its initial environmental analysis for the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District First Quarter 2018 competitive oil and gas lease sale. The document is available for a 30-day public comment period.

The lease sale includes 89 parcels and approximately 125,507 acres of federal mineral estate within the Wind River/Bighorn Basin District, which is comprised of the Cody, Lander and Worland field offices. The draft Environmental Assessment studies the potential offering of 16 parcels totaling 18,305 acres in the Cody Field Office; 65 parcels totaling 101,947 acres in the Lander Field Office; and 8 parcels totaling 5,255 acres in the Worland Field Office. The BLM will hold the lease sale online via www.energynet.com.

Public comments on the draft EA will be accepted through Aug. 23, 2017. Email comments to blm_wy_wrbbd_lease@blm.gov with “WY-181Q Lease Parcels” in the subject line. The public comments and information submitted regarding this project including names, email addresses and street addresses of the respondents will be available for public review and disclosure at the district office during regular business hours (7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) weekdays, except holidays.
