BLM to host series of open house meetings for management plan

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management will hold five open house meetings across the area beginning Tuesday to answer questions about a new Draft Resource Management Plan.
The open houses allow the public to have individual conversations with staff members and ask specific questions. A short presentation is scheduled for 5 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. The public can stop by anytime between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. for the following meetings:
• Jan. 29; Collbran Auditorium, 102 Main St., Collbran
• Jan. 30; DeBeque Community Center, 381 Minter Ave., DeBeque
• Jan. 31; Clarion Inn, 755 Horizon Dr., Grand Junction
• Feb. 5; Gateway Community Center, 42700 Hwy 141, Gateway
• Feb. 7; Fruita Civic Center, 325 Aspen Ave, Fruita
Diagrams and maps concerning travel management and other key allocations will be on display with BLM staff available to answer questions and clarify specifics.

The formal 90-day public comment period will begin when the Notice of Availability publishes in the Federal Register Jan. 25, 2013. CDs are available as well. The comment period will close on April 25, 2013.
“We value public input and we encourage people to attend our open house meeting,” said Kathryn “Katie” Stevens, acting Grand Junction Field Manager. “Our meetings are designed so people can have an opportunity to interact directly with our staff on the specific subjects that interest them most.”
Written comments will be accepted at the meetings. Before including address, phone number, e-mail address, or any other personal identifying information in your comments, be advised that your entire comment, including personal identifying information, may be made publicly available at any time. While individuals may request BLM to withhold personal identifying information from public view, the BLM cannot guarantee it will be able to do so.
