The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Taos Field Office invites you to participate in an engaging conversation on a travel and transportation evaluation process to assess public access needs within the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument (Monument), also known as the Taos Plateau Travel Management Area.  The Area is approximately 10 miles northwest of Taos near highway 285, extending to the Colorado border, and including all routes within the Monument.

An inventory review meeting in the format of a public open house will be held January 24, 2017, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at the Taos Convention Center, El Taoseno Room, 120 Civic Plaza Drive, Taos, NM 87571.

Those interested are invited to stop by to review the route inventory; discuss and identify key issues and access opportunities to be evaluated during the travel management process; and learn more about opportunities to contribute to this collaborative effort.  Travel management includes all forms of transportation, including travel by foot, horseback, and mechanized vehicles such as bicycles as well as the numerous forms of motorized vehicles from motorcycles and four-wheeled all-terrain vehicles to cars and trucks.

For individuals who cannot attend, meeting materials will be available online by January 25 and in hard copy at the Taos Field Office at 226 Cruz Alta Road, Taos, NM.  Comments may also be submitted via the comment form available at https://www.blm.gov/new-mexico or via e-mail to BLM_NM_TAFO_routes@blm.gov.  Written comments can also be mailed to Tami Torres, BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner, 226 Cruz Alta Road, Taos, NM, 87571.
