BLM fulfills final Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act entitlement for Native Village of Chuathbaluk

ANCHORAGE -- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has made an important land transfer to The Kuskokwim Corporation, fulfilling the land entitlement for the Native Village of Chuathbaluk. With the signing of the final patent for 8,784.59 acres, the corporation’s land entitlement for Chuathbaluk under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act is now fulfilled.
The Kuskokwim Corporation received its first conveyance for Chuathbaluk from BLM on Sept. 7, 2005. With this latest patent, the corporation has received just over 92,698 acres of land surrounding the village of Chuathbaluk, which is located on the north bank of the Kuskokwim River, 87 miles northeast of Bethel.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
