BLM fulfills final Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act entitlement for Native Village of Lower Kalskag

ANCHORAGE -- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has made an important land transfer to The Kuskokwim Corporation this week, fulfilling the land entitlement for the Native Village of Lower Kalskag. With the signing of the final patent for 560 acres, the corporation’s land entitlement under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act is now fulfilled for the Native Village of Lower Kalskag. Lower Kalskag is one of ten villages that merged in 1977, forming The Kuskokwim Corporation. The corporation has received just over 92,162 acres of land surrounding the village of Lower Kalskag, which is located on the north bank of the Kuskokwim River, northeast of Bethel. |
