SOCORRO, N.M. – Beginning Aug. 28, 2017, the Bureau of Land Management will be conducting road maintenance activities on the Quebradas Backcountry Byway.  This work is scheduled to take approximately one month, but may take longer.  While the work is underway, please follow posted traffic control signs and observe the 20 mph speed limit to ensure you safely enjoy your time on the road.  Use caution around blind curves and in work zones.

The work primarily entails culvert maintenance with heavy equipment.  As the work progresses, some brief road closures will be unavoidable and may last a few days at a time.  The road may be reduced to one lane of traffic at work sites, or visitors may be directed to take a detour.
