LAS VEGAS — Beginning Oct. 17, the Bureau of Land Management will temporarily close certain public lands near Laughlin to ensure public safety during the 2025 Best in the Desert, Laughlin Desert Classic Off Highway Vehicle Race. The closure will last through Oct. 19, 2025.
This temporary closure controls access to multiple points of entry to the event to minimize the risk of vehicle collisions with participants and event workers. Signs and maps directing the public to designated spectator areas will be provided by the event sponsor.
The closure area includes State Route 163 to the north, T.32S., R.66E sections 20, 21, 22, and 23 and is bracketed by Bruce Woodbury Dr. to the south and southwest, and Thomas Edison Dr. to the east. The entire area will be closed to all vehicles and personnel except law enforcement, emergency vehicles, event personnel, event participants, and spectators. Access routes leading to the area will be closed to vehicles. Camping also will be prohibited in the area during the duration of the closure.
For additional information about the temporary closure, contact Courtney King, Outdoor Recreation Planner, at [email protected] or (702) 515-5027.
