BLM appoints Park Ranger for Santa Fe County

TAOS, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Taos Field Office announces the appointment of a first ever park ranger for recreation services on public lands in Santa Fe County.
Ryan Ashcraft now actively patrols the La Cieneguilla, Camel Tracks, Buckman, San Pedro, Sombrillo/Nambe and Ojo Caliente areas, among others.
Ashcraft began his federal career in 2016 while in college at Cleveland State University working seasonally with the BLM in southcentral Montana. He has also worked in various locations with the National Park Service. Ashcraft has been with BLM Taos Field Office since Jan. 2022 serving as a park ranger at Santa Cruz Lake Recreation Area. Ashcraft holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
According to Ashcraft, “I’m very passionate about helping the public connect to their public lands and helping people get outside. I’m looking forward to engaging with the Santa Fe community and organizations to further better our public spaces.”
Ashcraft will be communicating about public land ethics and education with visitors, pueblo members and recreation organizations. He will activity organize cleanup efforts on public lands and work with volunteers. His cell phone number is (505) 929-5784.
In addition to the appointment of Ashcraft, the BLM has long had a Law Enforcement Ranger patrolling public lands in Santa Fe County.
