MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) today announced the availability of an environmental assessment for the Eagle Crest Energy Gen-Tie and Water Pipeline Right-of-Way Project in Riverside County, Calif. In addition to the right-of-way, the EA also examines a related amendment to the California Desert Conservation Area resource management plan. Release of the EA begins a 30-day public comment period.

The right-of-way proposal is a component of Eagle Crest Energy Corporation's Eagle Mountain Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Project. The right-of-way proposal includes approximately 12 miles of transmission gen-tie line and a water pipeline for the transmission of energy associated with the Eagle Mountain Project and is consistent with the license issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in 2014. The project area is near Desert Center, approximately 30 miles west of Blythe.

The environmental assessment tiers to the 2014 Final Environmental Impact Statement prepared by the FERC for the Eagle Mountain Pump Storage Hydroelectric Facility. The environmental assessment focuses on the right-of-way for the gen-tie and water supply lines, and the plan amendment for the sections of the gen-tie line that do not fall within designated utility corridors.

The environmental assessment is available for viewing online at https://eplanning.blm.gov/epl-front-office/eplanning/planAndProjectSite.do?methodName=renderDefaultPlanOrProjectSite&projectId=66002.
