Artists, Photographers to Exhibit Outdoor Works at BLM Reception

REDDING, Calif. – Artists and photographers will unveil works inspired by public lands in a reception set for Thursday, July 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Redding Field Office, 6640 Lockheed Dr., in Redding. Members of the public are welcome to view the art and photography, meet the artists, and enjoy snacks and light refreshments.
Encouraged by Redding area artist Marti Weidert, the artists worked during the spring months in the BLM-managed Sacramento River Bend Outstanding Natural Area, north of Red Bluff. They captured scenes of verdant meadows, vibrant wildflower blooms, scenic vistas and river rapids. They produced 14 paintings and photographs celebrating the beauty of the public lands.
"Thanks to the abundant rain last winter and spring, the artists had a wonderful diversity of landscapes to choose from," said BLM Redding Field Manager Jennifer Mata. "This partnership between the arts community and the BLM is a great way to connect people to their public lands."
Those who cannot attend the reception will have opportunities to view the artwork that will remain on display at the Redding BLM office until September.
The Sacramento River Bend Outstanding Natural Area is north of Red Bluff. Area residents and visitors enjoy hiking, horseback riding, river access, hunting, fishing and camping.
