Administrative or Mission Related:  Mission Related

Policy Action:  The National Office led Preparedness Review that was scheduled for 2020 has been canceled and will be rescheduled for the Spring of 2021.  For this year, each District must complete an internal review of their respective programs and submit completed Preparedness Review Checklists, Commendations and Recommendations, and Corrective Action Plans to WY-914 by June 16, 2020.

Reviews will be completed using the standard Fire and Aviation Preparedness Review Guide and Checklists, which can be viewed and/or downloaded at:

Any questions regarding these reviews should be directed to Richard Putnam, at (307) 775-6443.

Timeframe:  Effective immediately. Line Officers will ensure preparedness reviews are conducted within areas of their responsibility and are made aware of the results prior to June 16, 2020.

Budget Impact:  Costs may be incurred as a result of conducting the various State and Unit level preparedness reviews.  Costs should be considered a standard part of providing oversight for wildland fire management programs at the State and Unit level and covered within current budget allocations.

Manual/Handbook Sections Affected:  None. Direction follows that outlined in the Interagency Standards for Fire and Fire Aviation Operations (Red Book), Chapter 2.

Contact:  For questions related to this memorandum, contact Richard Putnam, Assistant State Fire Management Officer, at (307) 775-6443 or Paul Hohn, State Fire Management Officer, at (307) 775-6086.
