Subject:           Request for Recreation Management Information System Data Input     DD: 09/13/2019

This Information Bulletin requests field offices to complete data input into the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Recreation Management Information System (RMIS) for data covering the period of October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019. All offices should enter their data into RMIS through the BLM Application Security System (BASS). A link to the BASS login screen can be found on the RMIS Information intranet site at: https://rmishelp.blm.gov/

The RMIS database is the BLM’s official repository for data relating to the recreational and social use on public lands and waters, including National Conservation Lands.  It is an internal system accessible only by BLM personnel.  Data within the system includes, but is not limited to, the number of recreation visits, recreation visitor days, type of activities, permits issued, recreation site details, off-highway vehicle designation acres, and partnership agreement details.

Field offices are requested to have data input complete by Friday September 13, 2019. This deadline will allow for data quality review prior to the end of the fiscal year. The National RMIS Team will be reviewing field office data during the week of September 16 through 20, 2019. Field offices will be able to and work with the field staff to correct inadvertent data entry errors before the database locks data at midnight September 30, 2019.

A RMIS Team Contact List is also available on the RMIS Information site https://rmishelp.blm.gov/.  Users in each state are directed to a primary RMIS contact for assistance in completing this data request.  If your primary RMIS contact is unavailable, anyone on the list may be contacted. If you have questions or need additional information regarding this data request, please contact Larry Ridenhour, Outdoor Recreation Planner, Recreation and Visitor Services Division at 202-912-7255, or by email lridenhour@blm.gov.
