Subject: Classroom Investigation Series: Native Plants Teaching Guide for Middle School; Notice of Publication and Availability
We are pleased to announce the availability of the recently published Classroom Investigation Series: Native Plants Teaching Guide. Two companion publications on native plants will be available in the coming months: a Junior Explorer booklet for children and a general interest article for adults.
We are enclosing an initial preview copy of Classroom Investigation Series: Native Plants for you. You are encouraged to coordinate with your office Forms Manager to order additional copies (up to 100 per order) free of charge from the BLM Printed Materials Distribution Services at the National Operations Center. The PMDS item number is EE2042a. The email address for orders is blm_oc_pmds@blm.gov.
Materials included in the Classroom Investigations Series are intended to support BLM outreach to schools and educators. Please distribute booklets to BLM staff who work with schools within your State Office or field office. Copies can also be made available at other appropriate education venues. The booklet is downloadable from the BLM Learning Landscapes webpage at http://www.blm.gov/education.
Native Plants is the first subject area for a new series of BLM educational publications called “Explore, Investigate, Discover.” These materials address topics related to the programs and mission of the BLM and are targeted to learners ranging from young children to adults. For each topic, the BLM will produce a suite of three publications: a Junior Explorer for young children, a Classroom Investigations Teaching Guide for secondary school teachers, and a Discover publication for learners of all ages. Once all three publications in a suite are printed, they will be posted on the website in themed packages. The two outstanding publications on native plants will be available in the coming months.
