Subject:           Issuance of the Bureau of Land Management Fact Sheet on the Air Quality General Conformity Rule

This Information Bulletin (IB) announces the issuance of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Fact Sheet on the Air Quality General Conformity Rule.  The Fact Sheet was developed to assist BLM employees involved in land use planning or project decisions to comply with the General Conformity Rule.

The Clean Air Act requires federal agencies to demonstrate that federal actions in nonattainment areas undergo a conformity study.  The requirements of the study are outlined in the Air Quality General Conformity Rule and are summarized in the fact sheet.

Attached is the fact sheet, which includes an overview of the Air Quality General Conformity Rule, a list of accepted practices to comply with the rule, and two flow charts of the Applicability Analysis and the Conformity Determination.
