Rotation for Presidential Management Fellow

 DD:  03/29/2013

Action Requested:  The Division of Decision Support, Planning and NEPA has a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) who is currently seeking a rotational opportunity and career experience at the State or Field Office level.  The purpose of this Information Bulletin is to request State and Field Offices to submit projects for a 120-day rotational assignment beginning in June 2013.  Interested offices should submit a proposal describing the project and duties the PMF would perform, as well as the project timeframe.  Assignments should afford the PMF substantial responsibilities, allow work on priority projects, and promote a learning opportunity.  Please include a brief description of the office and local community, as well.

Background:  The Bureau of Land Management and the Department of the Interior currently have several PMFs employed nationwide.  The PMF program is a highly competitive, Government-wide professional development program designed to prepare individuals for management careers within the Federal Government.  Individuals hired through the PMF program are graduates of a variety of master's and doctoral-level programs.  Presidential Management Fellows receive an initial two-year full-time excepted service appointment, after which they are eligible for conversion to a permanent position as a Federal Government employee.  During their fellowship, each PMF takes on one or more rotational assignments.  Additional information can be found at www.pmf.gov.

Budget Impacts:  Travel and salary for the PMF’s rotational assignment is funded by the Division of Decision Support, Planning and NEPA.

Coordination:  If your office can offer this opportunity and would benefit from having a PMF, please submit proposals electronically to Shasta Ferranto, Planning and Environmental Analyst, WO-210, at sferranto@blm.gov.  A resume is available upon request at the same contact information.

Timeframe:  Proposals should be submitted by Friday, March 29, 2013.

Contact:  If you have questions regarding the PMF program or rotational assignment, please contact Joe Stout, Division Chief, Division of Decision Support, Planning and NEPA at 202-912-7275 or j2stout@blm.gov.
