Nesting Raptors in Southwestern Alaska: Status, Distribution and Aspects of Biology

The author conducted surveys of the presence and abundance of nesting raptors on 16 rivers in southwestern Alaska from 1979 to 1982. Objectives of the surveys were to locate nesting pairs and nesting habitat of peregrine falcons and other raptors; to collect information on species distribution and abundance, nest site characteristics, and food habits; and to analyze findings to provide information on species status, distribution, nesting, food habits, and factors influencing raptor populations in southwestern Alaska.
