Alaska Fossils and Artifacts Brochure

Alaska Fossils and Artifacts Brochure cover

While traveling in Alaska, you might find fossils and artifacts. Unless you have a permit, you must leave vertebrate fossils and artifacts in place. You are allowed to collect many plant and invertebrate fossils on federal land (except on National Parks Service lands). The State of Alaska requires permits for all fossil and artifact collection.

This brochure provides more in-depth information on the types of fossils you may find and where you may legally collect them.
