Jim Rolfes
Assistant Director for Information Management and Technology
Jim Rolfes stepped in as the Assistant Director for Information Management and Technology in September 2022. His professional experience in information management and technology spans numerous federal departments and agencies. He joined the BLM from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, where he was the Chief Information Officer, Chief Data Officer, and Senior Agency Official for Privacy since 2015. Prior to that, Rolfes worked at the Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service as the Assistant Commissioner for Data Transparency and Analytics and Chief Data Officer. He has roots in the Department of the Interior, having worked also in the Office of the Chief Information Officer at both the National Park Service and the Department. Rolfes holds a doctor of management and a master of science in computer systems management, both from the University of Maryland University College. He also earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Maryland College Park.
