Eric A. Kriley
Director of the Office of Law Enforcement and Security
Eric A. Kriley first became the BLM’s Director of the Office of Law Enforcement and Security (OLES) in November 2020. In October 2021, Director Kriley was transferred to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs as the Special Advisor for Law Enforcement and Justice Affairs. In August 2025, after a successful four years serving Indian Country, Kriley returned to the BLM OLES Director position.
Kriley brings extensive law enforcement and leadership skills to the BLM from his more than 28 years in federal law enforcement. Kriley was a member of the U.S. Foreign Service serving as a Special Agent with the Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service for the first 23 years of his career before joining the Department of the Interior.
Kriley’s overseas service included tours in Egypt, Kenya, Poland, and Afghanistan.
Prior to entering the Foreign Service, Kriley was an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at a private college in Wisconsin and a Military Police Officer in the Unites States Army Reserves. Kriley earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Criminology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
