Carla Bock
Assistant Director for National Conservation Lands and Community Partnerships (Acting)
Carla Bock became the acting Assistant Director for National Conservation Lands and Community Partnerships in April 2026. Prior to this role, she was the Deputy Assistant Director since June 2024. Bock joined the BLM following more than 16 years in program management and leadership roles in the areas of foreign policy, international development, and national security. She has spent much of her career at the Department of State covering South and Central Asia and the Middle East and North Africa (including short stints at U.S. embassies in India, Sri Lanka, and Turkmenistan while covering energy policy, trade, and sanctions related issues). With the U.S. Agency for International Development, Bock led a team of economists and private sector specialists while also supporting senior development officials on a range of financial and economic development issues. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in French from Tulane University and a master’s in public policy from Pepperdine University.
