Event Description

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management Montana/Dakotas has launched its “Brayin’ Across the Big Sky” sale event, offering approximately 50 wild burros for purchase through the Online Corral with local pickup options available across Montana.

The animals are available for purchase through the Fixed Price Online Corral at wildhorsesonline.blm.gov now through Monday, Aug. 4 at 12 p.m. MT, or until all burros are sold.

“These wild burros are intelligent, hardy, and make excellent pasture companions, pack animals, or additions to working farms and homesteads,” said Melissa Foster, BLM Wild Horse and Burro Specialist. “We’re excited to offer this opportunity for Montanans to purchase and pick up locally.”

All burros in this offering are Sale Authority animals, available for a fixed price of $125 each on a first-come, first-served basis, no bidding required. Buyers must complete an online application and be approved to purchase.

Successful buyers will be able to pick up their animals at one of three designated Montana locations:

  • Belt, Mont. – Morning of Saturday, Aug. 16

  • Polson, Mont. – Mid-day Saturday, Aug. 16

  • Miles City, Mont. – Mid-day Sunday, Aug. 17

To view animals available for each location, users can apply filters by pickup site on the Online Corral.

For questions about the event or assistance with the application process, email [email protected] or call 406-699-9331.
