Volunteers Needed for National Public Lands Day at Tri-State Territory Marker

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management's High Desert District and Rock Springs Field Office, in partnership with Sweetwater Custom Works and the Sweetwater Snowpokes ATV Club, will host a National Public Lands Day volunteer event at the historic Tri-State Territory Marker on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Community members are invited to help preserve this historic site by repairing the Tri-State Territory Marker, restoring flagpoles and replacing flags, repairing buck rail fencing, and removing trash from the marker and surrounding access roads. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome.
National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest single-day volunteer event dedicated to improving public lands. The event provides an opportunity for community members to work alongside BLM employees and local partners to help care for public lands while learning more about the area's history.
The BLM is excited to partner with Sweetwater Custom Works and the Sweetwater Snowpokes ATV Club to improve the historic Tri-State Territory Marker and surrounding area. National Public Lands Day provides an opportunity for volunteers to work alongside BLM employees and community partners to help preserve public lands and local history for future generations.
Volunteers should bring their own lunch, snacks, water, sturdy closed-toe shoes, gloves, hats, and weather-appropriate clothing. Participants must provide their own transportation to and from the event.
