Event Description

CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District, along with Alpine County Trails Association, will host a National Public Lands Day (NPLD) event on Saturday, September 27, 2025. At this event volunteers will participate in a “Workday” event which will include interpretative panel installation, painting, trail maintenance, fence building, and a cleanup.

This year's theme, "Our Home Outdoors," emphasizes the importance of public lands as more than just beautiful landscapes; they are essential places for gathering, learning, healing and building connections. Our volunteer efforts help ensure these cherished areas remain vibrant, healthy and accessible for generations to come.

About Curtz Lake: The lake itself is a natural (not man-made) lake, fed by snowmelt. Old-timers say it used to be a great place for duck hunting. There’s no fishing here, however, because there are no fish; in dry years the water dries up completely.
