Visitor Caution Encouraged During Clark Canyon Fuels Treatment Project Prep
DILLON, Mont. – Dillon Field Office staff urge visitors to exercise caution in some Bureau of Land Management-administered areas of Clark Canyon, Sept. 7-19, as crews work to prepare about 912 acres for future fuels treatment projects that will reduce wildfire risks and improve forest habitat conditions.
The Clark Canyon fuels treatment project is located in Beaverhead County, Montana, about 20 miles southwest of Dillon (7 miles east of Clark Canyon Reservoir), at the top of Clark Canyon Road.
Contractors will be using chainsaws and other equipment to cut encroaching conifer and brush, piling it for prescribed fire treatments planned to occur during 2027.
Visitors are advised to avoid areas where active work is occurring. Signs will be posted near common access points.
