Event Description
CASPER, Wyo. – Join the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and learn how to make your own handcrafted wool rugs with our hands-on wool rug braiding workshop.
In this free workshop, participants will learn how to turn scrap wool into a beautiful and functional braded rug – a durable pioneer craft known to last for generations. No prior experience is necessary.
“It is enjoyable to pass on useful skills to others,” said BLM education technician Stacey Moore, who will lead the workshop. “I had the opportunity to learn this pioneer skill from other knowledgeable and skilled women and hope to encourage others to keep the craft alive.”
Space is limited and registration is required. Donated scrap wool will be provided for a starter project. Participants will need to purchase additional materials; a supply list will be emailed upon registration. Registration is currently open at https://forms.office.com/g/cnTdDjtBEp.
Please contact Stacey Moore at (307) 261-7780 or [email protected] for more information.
The Trails Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
