Furniture Draw trailhead and parking improvements authorized

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Price Field Office has approved improvements to the user‑created parking area at the popular Furniture Draw hiking trail along Buckhorn Draw Road. The project formalizes the trailhead and establishes a clearly defined parking area to improve visitor safety and prevent further expansion of informal parking. The approved work includes using approximately 0.6 acre of previously disturbed surface for a designated parking area, delineating a 0.2‑acre access path, and actively reclaiming about 1.3 acres of surrounding disturbance. Improvements also include a kiosk and up to 600 feet of fencing or boulders to guide visitors and protect nearby resources.

Little Holes Trail designation and parking improvements approved

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Price Field Office has approved the formal designation of the Little Holes Trail and associated trailhead, along with improvements to the designated parking area along Buckhorn Draw Road in the San Rafael Swell. The decision follows completion of the environmental review documented in the project’s Categorical Exclusion and Decision Record. The approved action designates the Little Holes Trail and formalizes the 0.25‑acre parking areas. Improvements include delineation features such as fencing or boulders, installation of a kiosk, and leveling of parking surfaces to improve visitor safety and protect surrounding natural resources. Total ground disturbance will be less than 1.5 acres. This project supports the BLM’s ongoing efforts to enhance recreation access while safeguarding public lands in the Price Field Office. Monitoring of the trail and parking areas will occur regularly to ensure responsible use and continued resource protection.
