BLM authorizes drilling permits and infrastructure for the Rook Well Pad 

The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Rook Well Pad: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0055-EA. The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve four Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Anschutz Exploration Corporation, to drill oil wells producing from an existing federal mineral lease. The EA also analyzed construction of a well pad with associated access roads and pipelines and future drilling of eight additional wells for a total of twelve. The project location in the SWSE of Section 3, Township 12 South, Range 23 East, S.L.B.&M., Uintah County, Utah, approximately 68 miles south of Vernal and includes BLM-administered TLA-administered lands.

BLM authorizes Special Recreation Permit renewal for mountain bike races in Cedar City 

The BLM Cedar City Field Office has issued the Categorical Exclusion and Decision Record for NEPA number: DOI-BLM-UT-C010-2026-0012-CE. The BLM authorizes the renewal of an existing Special Recreation Permit (SRP) allowing Red Rock Events, LLC to hold competitive mountain bike races on existing roads and trails within the Three Peaks Mountain Bike Trail System in the Cedar City Field Office. One event would occur between May 1 – October 31 of each year.
