CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is asking for public input on a proposal to expand the Winn Gap Gravel Pit in north Cedar Valley in Iron County, Utah. The 30-day comment period runs from May 1 to June 2, 2025.

Southern Utah Paving is requesting to expand the existing gravel pit by 15 acres, bringing the total site to 20 acres. Gravel would be excavated and processed on-site, then hauled to nearby construction projects using existing roads. After use, the site would be reshaped and reseeded to support natural recovery. Work would occur on a periodic, year-round basis, with excavation reaching up to 30 feet deep.

The environmental assessment examines how the project could impact resources and environmental conditions in the area. Your comments will help guide the final decision.
