BILLINGS, Mont. – The Bureau of Land Management Billings Field Office has approved a decision under Categorical Exclusion DOI-BLM-MT-C010-2026-0013-CX to remove one wild horse from the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range.

The stallion breached the range boundaries twice within a 12-day period, on March 31, 2026, and again on April 11, 2026. The horse crossed multiple fences despite repairs and deterrents.  These incidents resulted in multiple complaints and a formal written request from private landowners.

The horse entered onto private property, where he commingled with and displayed aggressive behavior toward domestic horses and the landowner. With landowner permission, the BLM retrieved the horse and transported them to the BLM corrals at Britton Springs. The horse is being temporarily held, pending a final management decision because the animal is likely to return to private land if released.
