Meeting Location: Kiosk on Bloody Basin Road at entrance to Agua Fria National Monument. Exit 259 off Interstate 17. The kiosk is located here: 34.2829811, -112.1186123.

Details: The Bureau of Land Management along with the Friends of the Agua Fria National Monument will be conducting a nightjar listening survey the evening of May 10. The surveys will occur along Bloody Basin Road and will entail making 10-12 stops where we will get out of the vehicle and listen for calling nightjars for a period of 6 minutes at each stop. We anticipate the survey being completed around 10:30 pm or earlier. We will not see these birds, we will be identifying them by their calls. Expected species include common poorwill and lesser nighthawk and perhaps owls.

What to bring: Jacket, snacks, water, headlamp/flashlight.

This event is part of the Agua Fria National Monument 25th Anniversary celebration.
