The Bureau of Land Management Lakeview Field Office has issued a decision record for a categorical exclusion to mow a 230 foot long and 10 foot wide drivable space to allow a safe location for a cattle semi-truck to turnaround. Currently the permittee must unload cattle while parked on Highway 395 as there is no way to turn around a semi-truck once in the pasture. The parked semi-truck on the highway and the movement of cattle around the highway creates a safety hazard posing a risk to the permittee and drivers on Highway 395, which has a speed limit of 65 mph.

The turnaround access point is located within the South Alkali Lake Pasture of the Alkali Winter Allotment (#01001). The decision can be found on the BLM National NEPA Register website at: Horse Mountain Semi-Truck Turnaround.
