Humboldt River Field Office has finalized the Washburn Wells Environmental Assessment
WINNEMUCCA, Nev.— The Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact has been finalized for the Washburn Wells project, and a Proposed Decision has been signed. The proposed action includes the development of livestock wells, a water tank, pipelines and troughs, and spring exclosures within the Washburn Allotment.
“The purpose of this action is to improve the rangeland and riparian conditions within the Washburn Allotment by providing additional water sources for livestock and wildlife,” said Acting Winnemucca District Manager, Perry Wickham.
The need for the project is to improve livestock distribution to an optimum level over the entire allotment and to fulfill agencies’ responsibility under the Federal Land Policy Management Act of 1976 to allow for legitimate uses of public lands while preventing undue and unnecessary degradation.
The project documents are available to view at the BLM National NEPA Register. For additional project information contact Rangeland Management Specialist, Wes Barry, at 775-623-1500.
