Event Description

Since 2016, Crow Canyon's Northern Chaco Outliers Project has explored the Lakeview Community—four Chaco-era Great Houses in southwest Colorado. Much of this work focuses on the Haynie site, home to two of the Great Houses. Dr. Jonathan Dombrosky will share findings from three years of zooarchaeological research, highlighting how animal remains—like bison and wolf—shed light on past Pueblo life and human-animal relationships.

About the speaker: Dr. Jonathan Dombrosky is an Environmental Archaeologist at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. He earned his PhD from the University of New Mexico. His research focuses on ancient subsistence and human-animal relationships in the Southwest, with projects ranging from Pueblo fishing strategies to isotope ecology. His work is widely published in leading archaeological and scientific journals.
