LANDER, Wyo. — The Cottonwood Campground in Green Mountain will remain closed due to a recent culvert failure. The site will not be open for Memorial Day weekend. The BLM apologizes for the inconvenience to visitors and is actively working to assess the damage and plan the necessary repairs. A reopening date is unknown at this time.

The road surface in the area of the failed culvert is collapsing and unstable. This situation creates unsafe conditions for motorist because the road could catastrophically collapse under any vehicle loads, especially heavier truck and camper trailers.

The Bureau of Land Management asks visitors to plan accordingly due to the closure. Recreation sites and useful resources for the Lander Field Office can be found online at https://www.blm.gov/office/lander-field-office.
