Event Description
Join us for a special cultural demonstration with Hopi artists Marvene and Nuvadi Dawahoya.
Marvene, Tewa, will share her process of weaving traditional sifter baskets from yucca—an honored and sacred plant in Hopi culture. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, she carries forward knowledge passed down by her stepmother.
Alongside her, Nuvadi, a celebrated carver from Shungopavi Village, will showcase his intricate kachina carvings made from cottonwood root. With over two decades of experience and numerous awards, his pieces are known for their craftsmanship, detail, and cultural significance.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness traditional Hopi artistry and connect with the stories behind each piece.
