Event Description
Join Diné (Navajo) artist Kino Benally for an immersive, hands-on workshop exploring the connections between music, sound, and the land.
In Sound & Environment, Kino will guide participants through his creative process for composing music using both digital tools and natural elements. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how he makes music using software like Ableton, then step outside to discover sounds in the environment—anything from rustling leaves to striking stones. Each participant will contribute a unique sound, which Kino will record and mix into a collaborative song created during the workshop.
This engaging program blends Indigenous perspectives, sound art, and audio production to deepen our connection to place and each other.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments to add to the experience.
