Event Description

Join us at the Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center for a special presentation hosted in coordination with the Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance and Montezuma Lands Conservancy.

Presenter Nicholas LaPalm will delve into the Desert Archaic tradition, highlighting the shift from big-game hunting to plant-based subsistence and the development of innovative food-processing techniques. Drawing on archaeology and ethnobotany, this presentation will reveal how people adapted to arid environments and cultivated deep, lasting relationships with native plants—knowledge that continues to shape the region today.
