The California Trail Interpretive Center hosts California Trail Days June 7 and 8
Event Description
ELKO, Nev. – The California Trail Interpretive Center proudly announces its 19th annual California Trail Days re-enactment on June 7 and 8, 2025. This dynamic, family-friendly event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day and is open to everyone at no cost. Located just eight miles west of Elko, off I-80 at the Hunter exit 292. Trail Center staff invites the public to step back in time and relive the adventurous spirit of America’s westward expansion.
Join us as we bring history to life with a vibrant pioneer encampment and Shoshone summer camp. Attendees can enjoy nostalgic wagon rides and immerse themselves in the incredible 2,000-mile journey from Missouri jump-off towns. Engage with history through activities that include archery, axe throwing, pioneer games, and even gold panning! Kids of all ages can earn their California Trail Center Junior Ranger badge while embarking on this educational adventure.
A special highlight this year features renowned presenter Samantha Szesciorka, affectionately known as Sagebrush Sam, who will share her fascinating experiences from long trail rides along National Historic Trails. Frank Tortorich will delve into the ‘’Anatomy of a Wagon," while Mary Ann Tortorich will showcase the intricacies of 1800s women's clothing.
“Our staff is excited to host California Trail Days this year," said Park Manager Paul Brownlee. “We look forward to welcoming the public to join us. This is going to be a big, beautiful event with a little something for everyone!”
Mark your calendars, gather your family and friends, and join us for a memorable weekend celebrating the spirit of the California Trail!
